The game The Guardians is going to be a fighting/monster defeat game, with a bit of a twist.

The main game design mechanic behind it is the idea of your character being a superhero that is well and truly invulnerable, and the way you get a ‘game over screen’ is through failing to protect the city.

The two characters shown to the right fit two of the different archetypes of the ‘invulnerable’ hero and are the two characters I’ve gotten designed and drawn up by other artists (Judith) or designed and drawn up myself (Clara). Judith will fall into the ‘Hulkish-abomination-thing’ archetype, the gigantic wall of muscle that is just that; a massive brute of immense strength and power but little more to them. Clara will be a Captain Marvel/Superman/Hyperion/Sentry shoe in, pulling a tad from all of them and in general falling under the ‘flying brick with laser vision’ archetype of character.

The overarching plot will involve fighting off monsters of an ever increasing size and catastrophy level, finding out where they’re coming from and/or whats creating them, and figuring out a way to put a stop to them.
